Scooter vs Bicycle in Bali - Which Should You Rent?
Trying to decide between renting a scooter or bicycle in Bali? We compare both options to help you choose the perfect ride for your trip.
One of the first decisions visitors to Bali make is how to get around. Should you rent a scooter or a bicycle? The answer depends on your plans, experience, and comfort level.
Choose a Bicycle If: You are staying in a flat area like Canggu or Seminyak, you prefer eco-friendly transport, you want exercise, you are traveling with children, or you do not have a motorcycle license.
Choose a Scooter If: You plan to travel between towns (Canggu to Ubud, for example), you need to cover long distances daily, you are comfortable riding in traffic, or you need to carry passengers.
Safety Comparison: Bicycles are generally safer for beginners. You move slower, which gives more time to react. Scooters require more skill and confidence in traffic. Both require a helmet (included with our rentals).
Cost Comparison: Bicycles start from Rp 50.000/day, scooters from Rp 60.000/day. The price difference is minimal, so the choice should be based on your needs rather than cost.
Our Recommendation: For most visitors staying in the Canggu area, a bicycle is the perfect choice for daily trips to cafes, beach, and local shops. Rent a scooter for day trips to further destinations like Uluwatu or Ubud.
The Best of Both: Many of our customers rent a bicycle for their daily routine and add a scooter for one or two day trips. We offer flexible mix-and-match options.
