2026-03-158 min read

Canggu offers some of the best cycling routes in Bali. From rice field paths to coastal roads, here are our top picks for an unforgettable ride.

Canggu has become one of Bali's most popular areas for cycling, and for good reason. The flat terrain, scenic rice paddies, and relatively quiet back roads make it perfect for riders of all levels.

Route 1: Berawa to Echo Beach Coastal Path - This 6km route takes you along the coastline with stunning ocean views. Start at Berawa Beach and ride north past Batu Bolong towards Echo Beach. The road is mostly flat with a few gentle inclines. Best done in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat.

Route 2: Pererenan Rice Field Loop - Starting from Echo Beach, head inland through Pererenan's stunning rice terraces. This 8km loop takes you through traditional Balinese villages and past ancient temples. A mountain bike is recommended for the unpaved sections.

Route 3: Canggu to Tanah Lot Temple - For more adventurous riders, the 12km ride to Tanah Lot temple is unforgettable. Take the coastal road through Seseh and enjoy the dramatic cliff views along the way. An e-bike makes this ride effortless.

Route 4: Umalas Villa Route - Perfect for families, this gentle 4km loop through the quiet residential area of Umalas features tree-lined streets, rice paddies, and virtually no traffic. City bikes are ideal for this route.

Route 5: Batu Bolong Street Run - The heart of Canggu, Batu Bolong street is lined with cafes, surf shops, and restaurants. While it can be busy, early morning rides (before 8am) offer a peaceful experience with the street mostly to yourself.

Safety Tips: Always wear a helmet (free with our rentals), carry water, use sunscreen, and ride on the left side of the road. Indonesian traffic drives on the left.
